Intake Interviews Happening Now!

Youth at Work is currently scheduling intake interviews for the next program start date: January 10, 2011. In addition to a current resume, interested candidates are encouraged to obtain a referral from a Case Manager at an Employment Assistance Service Centre. A list of EAS's in your area can be obtained by clicking on the following link:

If you already have a referral from a Case Manager please call 604-629-0007 to schedule an intake interview. Those interested in the program are encouraged to arrange an interview as early as possible in securing a time. Interviews will be scheduled until Tuesday, December 21, 2010.

The Youth at Work team has just wrapped up another round of intake interviews and would like to thank everyone who applied. New YAW Lead Facilitator

It has been announced that Shawna Smith will be taking over for Arita Atwal as Lead Facilitator of Youth at Work starting August 30, 2010. The Youth at Work staff have enjoyed working with Arita who will be going back to school in September to pursue her long term career goals. Program staff wish Arita the best in her future endeavors and will miss her very much.

Shawna is currently the Job Developer at Youth Spot Employment Centre, however, the position was 1 of 2 positions temporarily put in place in response to the economic downturn and will end on August 20, 2010. In this role and others, Shawna has excelled at building relationships with employers which in turn offered employment opportunities for youth. Program staff are looking forward to working with Shawna.

Youth at Work Zine

After consulting with particpants currently in the program, it was decided by staff that a Youth at Work zine will be created. While still in its early stages, it was agreed by all that the zine will include youth art and writings, as well as a resource list. Completion of the first issue is set for the end of September.

Next Program Start Date

The next Youth at Work session start date will be October 11, 2010. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact us at 604-629-0007 in the first week of September to schedule an information interview. Before an appointment can be scheduled, all prospective participants require a referal from a Case Manager at one of the Employment Assistance Service Centres listed here:
